The Upside Down Catfish, commonly called the Blotched Upside Down Catfish, is an opaque color with many black spots and markings. It hangs from an inverted position and also feeds from the surface of the water. It will eat on algae that form on the aquarium decorations and plants.
It likes a well planted aquarium with driftwood and crevices. Good water conditions are necessary as the Upside Down Catfish is sensitive to nitrates. A current is preferred in the aquarium. It can be kept as a schooling fish successfully.
The Upside Down Catfish is an omnivore and should be offered freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, sinking catfish pellets, and flake food. It is a good algae controller for a planted community aquarium.
