The Rotala Indica has small leaves that are green on the top and pink on the bottom. Since the leaf size is rather small, it will grow densely and may need to be thinned out over time. Rotala Indicas are a fragile plant that should not be included in an aquarium with overly active fish that could damage the stems.
At least 4 watts per gallon of full spectrum lighting (5000-7000K) is required for proper growth of the Rotala Indica. Propagation can be done by taking a cutting off of the main plant, and putting the new piece into the gravel where desired. Roots will form from the cutting to aid in keeping the plant in place. The Rotala Indica benefits from regular CO2 additions, iron-rich fertilizers, and trace elements.
