The Red Mushrooms are also called Mushroom Anemones and Disc Anemones. These invertebrates display a wide variety of colorations, textures, and patterns. Some are stripped or spotted and some are solid in color. The Red Mushrooms can vary in color from light pinkish purple to a vivid red.
Red Mushrooms are hardy and moderately easy to maintain. They need a medium light level and should be placed lower in the tank if the light intensity is high. Low to medium waterflow in the aquarium is preferred. Red Mushrooms are semi-aggressive and require adequate space between themselves and other corals or sessile invertebrates. It receives some of its nutrients through the photosynthesis of the symbiotic algae, zooxanthellae.
