An Pink Jack Dempsey should be housed in an aquarium of 50 gallons or larger with a fine sandy bottom. There should be plenty of rocks and roots for them to hide in. the plants in the aquarium should be hardy since it will burrow and attack them. Hardy plants should be used to separate territories, if possible. The Pink Jack Dempsey is territorial and will eat smaller fish that it can fit in its mouth.
The Pink Jack Dempsey is an omnivore and will eat almost any prepared and frozen foods, including freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, ocean plankton, flake food, and cichlid pellets.
