The Banded Sleeper Goby is also known as Sleeper Banded Goby, Brownbarred Goby, and Bullet Goby. It has a greenish-yellow head with blue and orange dots or dashes. The rest of the body is yellow with brown bands.
In the aquarium there should be live sand as the substrate. The Banded Sleeper Goby uses shallow burrows in the sand as refuge. It is territorial, but rarely becomes aggressive towards other fish. It may fight with its own kind unless they are a mated pair. Like most gobies, this fish is known to jump out in the aquarium is not covered.
Banded Sleeper Gobies feed on small crustaceans in the substrate as well as filamentous algae. It should be offered a variety of foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and prepared foods for herbivores. Some will sift sand through their gills to trap small substrate dwelling invertebrates.
